Five ways for data backup

Are you worried a lot about backup of your useful data? Maybe you are facing a lot of problems regarding this and not getting enough time to do that. Here are some tips to solve out the problems.

• Regular checking of the logs: the backup logs should be checked on a daily basis. In general, you are supposed to see a successful data backup and also notice that the size of the backup is increasing everyday.

• Test restore of the data: even if the data has got a good backup, always try to restore the data from the backup. You should carry out a test restore to use the data actually for recovery. If found some files missing or getting omitted, then the backup is of no use. Please do not perform restore on your server or if you have little knowledge of it. The data might be overwritten by mistake.

• Backup data off-site: do a data backup off-site also. Do a lot of research-work before installing MOZY or CARBONITE or any other product for your backup solution.

• Change your backup solution: if it is not possible for you to perform a full backup daily, try to change your backup solution. It is true that incremental backups work well but it takes too much of time.

• Make your backup automated: you may not be able to run a backup everyday at the same time; hence your backup might not be completed occasionally. Are they getting left out? Just schedule your backup and let it run at night to save your free time.
